The Best Easter Ham Ever!!!

Who is ready for Easter next weekend???  If you are not, here is something that can help and it's easy

There has been one style ham that we have made in my family forever!  It has been made in the oven along with using a slow cooker.  I love the slow cooker style because then it frees up the oven for all the other fun things that accompany the ham.

In my family, this ham is so good that it is staple not only at Easter, but also Christmas.  As you can see of the little bit of the tablecloth, it was Christmas that this picture was taken.  And the best part of this dish is that when you have gobbled up all of the ham, that bone makes a FANTASTIC broth for Split Pea Soup.  Happy Holidays everyone!

The Best Easter Ham Ever!!!

Ingredients:

  • 1 bone in ham, precooked
  • 2-3 Tbls whole cloves
  • 3/4 - 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 liter ginger ale
Preparation:
  • Place ham in slow cooker flat side down.  Push the whole cloves into the ham all over until all of them are used up.
  • Press the brown sugar onto the ham all over and then pour the ginger ale around the sides.
  • Cook per instructions, basting every 45 minutes to an hour.  Cook on low for 7-9 hours.

Cactus Juice

Closer to a decade ago, my cousin who has lived in Denmark my entire grown up life, came to the small town of T-hawk with his family (and pretty much the rest of our family) for the Fourth of July.  Besides all of the seriously fun times everyone had together, he also brought with him a cocktail that was perfect for a hot summer day or night.
He used to make this at a tavern he had worked at many moons before and it is surprisingly smooth, even with the main ingredient of Tequila.

Artichoke, Olive & Feta Pasta Salad

This is my nod to desiring spring to be here soon.  Looking for light and fun things to make that will help along a warmer season.  I know that it isn't spring yet because there is still snow on the ground and it is much colder outside than you would think by looking at the sun shining.

Chicken Meatballs & Spaghetti

Normally, when I think meatballs, I think meat - good ol' grade a beef.   Usually mixed with marinara sauce and noodles.  But meatballs aren't just for hamburger anymore and this tasty chicken variation really proves that.

Easy Chicken Dumpling Soup

I consider this a great cheater recipe.  One that can easily be made on a weeknight and still be in bed in time for a good night sleep.

Pop Overs

Nothing is more wonderful on a Saturday morning than coming downstairs to the smell of some sort of dough cooking in the oven and coffee ready to go.  This wonderful thing happens because there is another person that makes your house a home and that person loves to work on breakfast items.

Cream Cheese Chicken Taquitoes

SOOOO good!  Like the perfect combo taco, burrito, chimichanga...this dinner was super tasty!  My favorite part is everything that you can put on top of these crunchy, creamy dinner delights.  More cheese, more salsa, lettuce, refried beans, hot sauce.  Yum! Yum!
