Ginger Lime Martini

This won't come as a huge surprise, but there is another food out there that I love to cook with - That food is GINGER!  Mix that with martini's and life shoots way past good into GREAT / WONDERFUL / AWESOME territory.
Don't know about all of you, but there is something about a martini or maybe it is the martini glass and simple sweet and potent.  Could be all of the years watching Sex in the City, but there is nothing better than a simple drink in a cool style glass.

It all started with the cosmopolitan and has ventured into many different styles of martini since that time.  This martini has the citrus, sweet ginger simple syrup and let's not forget the vodka.

Ginger Lime Martini

Ingredients: (Makes 2 martini's)

  • 1/2 cup vodka
  • 1/2 cup club soda
  • 1/3 cup ginger simple syrup
  • Lime juice

Preparation:
  • Make Simple Syrup in advance:  Melt equal parts sugar and water (usually 1/2 cup or 1 cup) with fresh ginger.  Bring to a boil until sugar is dissolved.  Remove ginger and chill until making the cocktails.
  • Start chilling 2 martini glasses with ice.  In a shaker, combine vodka, ginger simple syrup and the juice of half a lime. Shake well.  Add club soda and strain into chilled martini glasses.

*Recipe a variation of ginger martini from Mr & Mrs P website.
